Based on ancient wisdom Reiki was developed in Japan by a Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui in the mid 1800's.

Reiki is based on the fllowing five principles:

One: "Today I give thanks for my many blessings."

Two: "Just for today I will not worry."

Three: "Today I will not be angry."

Four: "Today I will do my work honestly."

Five: "Today I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing."

Transmission of energy

Reiki is passed on today through attunements. An attunement is a sacred process where a Reiki Master activates Reiki Energy and passes it on to the initiate who then in turn has this energy for laying - on of hands. Once attuned to Reiki, initiates have this energy for the rest of their lives for personal expansion on all levels of body, mind, and spirit. There are six levels or degrees of Reiki and each of these include attunements. The initiate also receives the Sanskrit symbols for activating the higher levels of energy when they receive the level of Second and Third degree.

Reiki I is four attunements and it opens the healing centers in the hands

Reiki II is a tremendous increase of energy and the student receives three symbols.

The first symbol activates the increase of energy.

The second symbol is specifically for aligning the heart, throat, brow and crown chakras. It also helps to release stress.

The third symbol is for distance healing, dealing with uncovering the past and past lives.

Reiki III is two attunements and a fourth symbol. It has a tremendous impact on one's connection with their Higher Self and Divine Purpose. It moves one from job to vocation and catapults them into the fifth and sixth dimension where there is a tremendous acceleration of life path.

Reiki IV is for those who do not want to go on to be a Master but want the higher vibration of the Master attunements. This is the highest level a lay person can attain. (One does not need Reiki IV if they are going to be a Reiki Master.)

Reiki Master is two attunements and instruction on how to give Reiki I,II,III attunements. There is a tremendous increase in personal energy and healing presence.

Master Teacher is two more attunements and a fifth Reiki symbol. With this symbol a Master Teacher can give Reiki IV, Reiki Master, and make other Master Teachers.

Attunement to level 1, 2, 3 and Master Teacher are performed according to students needs.

Laying-on of Hands

Once a Reiki initiate has received these attunements they are then considered a Reiki practitioner and can give treatments to themselves and others. The treatments consist of laying - on of hands and may be short duration when applied to a small area of the body which is in pain or is experiencing stress, or it may be a full body treatment which lasts approximately one hour. Reiki infuses life force energy to the receiver and often relieves pain, speeds up the healing process, reduces stress and revitalizes the energy of the receiver. The Reiki practioner draws the life force from the Universe and passes it on to the receiver; in the process both practitioner and receiver draw in this healing energy from the electromagnetic field around them.

Unlike other forms of hands - on healing, Reiki does not require any faith/belief in a particular religion or dogma. It is used by Buddhists, Baptists, Catholics and Krishnas. It supports and assists the body in regaining and maintaining harmony and balance. Reiki does not drain practitioners of their energy because the energy applied to the subject in a treatment is of surrounding electromagnetic origin and not from the practitioners' own personal healing resources. There is no need for practitioners to hold any type of conscious belief for this system to be effective.
